HOW DO I MAKE COOKIE CONSENT NOTIFICATION POP UP ON MY BLOG?




Have you been hearing about the cookie consent, I believe you see messages popup notifying you about how the company collect and uses cookies from your browser.

Do you need something like that on your blog, do you want to comply with cookie consent for reasons best known to you? If that is what you want, then you are at the right spot as I will be leading you through the process of handling that.

However, before jumping into the Process, let's have some words on the term cookie.


WHAT IS A COOKIE?

Cookie is a JavaScript code that when implemented into a blog's Html makes it possible for the blog visitors to get a message alert of the types of cookies the blog collects and uses of the cookies.

According to Google, cookies are small pieces of text sent to your browser by a website you visit, These text helps the website recall information about your last visit and make the site easy for you to visit again.

WHY DO I NEED A COOKIE CONSENT?

As a blogger, cookie consent is a simple but very important feature to have on your blog in other to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR) Laws. You must have the cookie consent on your blog If you have EU visitors or if anyone from the EU would visit your blog at any time. GDPR Legislation made up this law on 25 May 2018 replaying the EU Data Protection Directive 1995. 

Although, if not for the standard look it gives to a blog, you need to comply with the GDPR Laws in other to display Google Adsense Ads on your blog as it is part of the directives given by AdSense in other to be in the advertisement program of the platform.

Receive the user's consent before you use any cookies except strictly necessary cookies.

  • Provide accurate and specific information about the data each cookie tracks and its purpose in plain language before consent is received.

  • Allow users to access your service even if they refuse to allow the use of certain cookies.
  • Make it as easy for users to withdraw their consent as it was for them to give their consent in the first place. 


Before Implementing a cookie consent to your blog, you need to first generate the code.

All you need to do is search for: Cookie consent compliance generator for a blog. Although, some of the sites you will be directed to require some payment before using the consent while there are still other platforms granting cookie consent for free.

You can visit any of the above-listed sites to generate a blog's consent code unless you have an alternative consent generator.

I will be using the FreePrivacPolicy website to describe the process of generating the Code.

HOW TO GENERATE A COOKIE CONSENT CODE

STEP 1:

Visit FreePrivacyPolicy (Freeprivacypolicy.com)



 STEP 2:

Click on the write-up that reads: Free Cookie Consent.






STEP 3:

A new page will display where you'll go through four steps some with regards to all the features you want on your cookie consent. see photos below:

Now, you need to access your blog's "Html" code page and place the copied consent code as shown in photo number four(4) above.

Open your Html page. Click to learn how to access your blog's HTML page.
Paste the copied generated consent code before the head tag <head>






Click on the save icon at your top right after pasting the code.
