When I started blogging as a teen, I was scared to open the Html codes page of my blogger dashboard because I never wanted to make any mistake and I had no knowledge of getting back any mistake I make.

This article explains gradually how you can download your blog's theme/template so you can get back your site standard as it was before you made a mistake.

A theme is the main idea of a literary work conveyed by an author and interpreted by a reader. In the blogging aspect,  a theme is explained to be a file which contains the complete setup and features displayed in any blog.

WHY MUST I DOWNLOAD MY THEME

Downloading your blog theme is a very good decision to make so you always have a backup whenever you lost or have a disorder on your blog features. Below are some other reasons you need to download your blog theme:

TO SHARE ON OTHER BLOGS:

Yes, you can share your theme with another of your blog or share it with a friend. Blogger made it easy for you to save, and share your piece of blog theme work with yourself or others. after making a good theme design, you can download and upload themes you have made new changes on other blogs or if you think that theme design is what you will be needing on your other blog. 

MISTAKES IN BLOG HTML CODE

We can sometimes make mistakes that will affect our blog or dashboard view while working on our blog's HTML code. You can sometimes upload an expired HTML code in our blog's code while setting cookies and other features of the blog related to script writing. You can easily recover the old features of the blog if you have a downloaded copy of the theme before the mistake.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD MY BLOGS THEME

STEP 1:

Login to your blogger dashboard, and select the blog to download the theme.

STEP 2:

 Scroll down and click on the "Theme icon.

STEP 3:

Click the dropdown menu upside-down arrow symbol beside the customize icon in the middle of the screen.  

STEP 4:

A list of options will appear on your screen and you are to select the Backup option.

STEP 5:

A message will pop up automatically asking you to cancel or download. Click Download and wait for the theme to be downloaded.

Note:

After downloading the theme, it's up to you to use it where and how you want but have in mind that; the blogger theme downloads in an XML (Extensible Markup Language ) file format, meaning you can upload it on any other blogs.
